"Canon Inc. has today announced two new handheld multimedia storage viewer devices that are closely related, with the exception of storage capacity. The Canon Media Storage M30 and M80 are designed to offer a user interface that will be familiar to users of Canon's digital cameras, and both feature a 3.7" TFT LCD display capable of displaying 262,000 colors with 160 degree viewing angle, 300cd/m2 brightness and 250:1 contrast ratio. The only differences between the units relates to the choice of hard disk. The Canon Media Storage M80 includes an 80GB hard disk with 74.31GB available, and weighs 370g with battery. The Media Storage M30 uses a smaller 30GB hard disk with 27.74GB available, and is just slightly lighter at 360g ready to use."

I guess Canon is entering the Media View market. However, there is no pricing on the device yet. I wonder though whether people would carry this device around, especially given its size and weight, and the fact that one would already be carrying around a camera. My preferrence would be (even if it makes DSLRs a little more expensive) to incorporate the feature of this device with DSLRs, although I guess the camera would get to be a lot heavier. Although I could also be convinced about the qualities of this device if it synced wirelessly with a Canon camera.
