Photosynth: Future of Flickr?

"What if you could take all the pictures of a particular place on Flickr, taken at different angles, and without a 3D model, your computer could stitch the pictures together into a 3D, navigable model where you can zoom in or out, walk around and more?"
Put a bunch of really bright people in a room, and it's amazing the things they'll think of. Photosynth is photo-stitching on steroids. Some of the samples they've come up with are absolutely incredible. The team talks about other potential applications on the website, like the ability to take a photo of something, and have your phone tell you what you're looking at, then link you to further information on that subject. The possibilities are mind-boggling.
