Fabrik: The Future of Home Storage?

"Mike [Coedano] is the CEO, and [Keyur] Patel is the chairman of the Fabrik, a San Mateo-based company that plans to reinvent the world of storage. The new company has two product offerings. One is a piece of software that runs on a network attached storage device, and turns it into a home-version of “online storage.” Plug it into your router, install the software on your desktop, and you are good to go...The second offering from the company is an online service, that does exactly what the “gizmo” does, except it costs a lot less, and comes with a lot less storage space - between 10-to-30 gigs."

The products mentioned are still very much in the development stage, but from what I gather, it looks like NAS with accompanying 'server' software. Kind of a Network Attached Server. You load all your media to this drive that's attached to your network and the software creates a 'web browser' like experience. All files are displayed as if you were looking at them on someone's website. What's not clear is if it will connect to the internet, giving you basically your own online server. What do you think? Sound like something you'd be interested in?
