Digital Sales Triple; Physical Sales Hold Nearly Steady

"In the first half of 2005, global CD sales dropped 1.9 percent from the same period in 2004, from $13.4 USD to $13.2 USD. Meanwhile, online sales tripled to $790M USD, representing about six percent of business. There is no breakout of subscription sales from track and album downloasds, or even an indication that subscription revenue is tallied in the figures."

I'm sure the drop in CD sales will be used to target music piracy while the tripling of purchased downloads as an indicator that people will buy if you give them what they want will be swept under the rug.
