New Insurance Will Protect Expensive Gadgets

"But a new kind of insurance plan will cover you in case of theft, loss or accidental damage to your gadget. A growing number of insurance companies now offer special policies, or riders you can tag on to your existing homeowner’s insurance. The cost can vary, but is usually around $5 a month for a cell phone or iPod. Consumer advocates like Doug Heller worry about the cost, and the fine print. They say some policies may include deductibles of up to $100, and may contain coverage exceptions and replacement limitations."

Interesting insurance plan for those of you that tend to break or lose devices. I find that the monthly fee is a bit high, but more than that, the deductable seems to make it not worth it, especially for the small $200-300 devices. But, it might be worth it for expensive toys like Digital SLRs and lenses. What do you guys think?
