"Akimbo hopes to reinvent the future of home entertainment by delivering television programs over the Internet. The reasonably priced Akimbo service is still in its infancy, and though it does not offer HDTV support and certainly won't take the place of your regular TV, it has decent image quality and could be a nice addition if you want special-interest programming. The company's first product is the Akimbo Player, a $229.99 device that's built around an Intel Celeron processor and an 80GB hard drive. Viewers use an on-screen program guide, similar to those used with TiVo and other DVRs, to select programs and download them to the Akimbo player."
