Carbon Nanotubes To Displace LCDs?

"Equipment which is able to produce high-performance nanotubes has advanced efforts to combine nanotechnology with plasma technology, according to the Taipei Times. Exceptional electrical properties make nanotubes ideal for a next-gen wave of flat-screen displays currently known as field emission displays, or FEDs, the paper reports."

Very interesting, because if this were to become a real technology, it would have serious repercussions in the TV, monitors and camera market. Field emission displays have been prototyped for many years. They have the advantage over liquid crystal displays of being emissive and therefore more power efficient and having a wider viewing angle. However, as far as I have read, the manufacturing of this technology in consumer units has always run into problems. It will be interesting to see how the marriage of FEDs with plasma technology would help alleviate previous issues.
