Adobe to release "hobbyist version" of Premiere

"Besides enterprise opportunities, Adobe also expects to profit from the ongoing consumer shift to digital photography and video, Narayen said. The company has seen solid acceptance of Photoshop Album, a hobbyist version of the image-editing application, and expects similar results from a planned hobbyist version of its Premiere video editing package. "We think there's a tremendous opportunity to expose people to our brand as they move into digital imaging," he said."

This was lost in an article about Adobe's quarterly results, but it does look like good news for those who want a consumer version of Adobe Premiere. Some of us still have copies of Adobe Premier LE, but I never used mine due to its limitations. I can only hope that it will be more like Photoshop Elements and less like Photoshop Album.
