Canon Powershot S500 Review

"The Canon PowerShot S500 Digital Elph is a worthy successor to the extremely popular S400. The camera's compactness (it's a bit larger than a pack of cigarettes) and ease of use are deceptive; it's powerful and produces sharp, well-exposed images. Canon has packed a lot into this metal-bodied 5-megapixel shirt-pocket shooter, including an f/2.8 to f/4.9, 7.4- to 22.2-mm lens (35-mm equivalent: 36 to 108 mm) that retracts into the body. The lens can focus as close as 2 inches in macro mode, and shutter speeds are up to 1/2000 of a second. All these extras, however, make the S500 surprisingly heavy for its size."

Yet another excellent camera from Canon. Their Powershot series has always impressed me and their latest addition, the S500, impresses PC Magazine as well. A nice compact 5MP camera with 3x optical zoom, it produces some nice sharp and well exposed images. It is also capable of capturing video at 640x480 resolution at 15 frames per second for 30 seconds. Read the article for further details.
