Snap, Crackle, iPod Mini Problems

Imagine yourself lounging casually on the sofa after a hard day's work. You reach for your iPod Mini. Fire up something relaxing from your playlist, like Chopin's Prelude in C Minor. As you settle back and close your eyes, getting lost in the soothing sounds of piano keystrokes. Then suddenly a crescendo of bizarre sounds slowly begins to replace poor old Frederic's Nocturnes. A loud crackling, screeching, popping sound. Is this the percussion section, perhaps? Nope, this is the sound of poor quality control, loud and clear.

Apparently many iPod Mini owners are reporting this phenomena. The problem appears to be a flawed connector between the headphone jack and the mainboard. Though Apple hasn't officially offered a fix, but recommends contacting AppleCare immediately if your Mini exhibits this same behavior.

Problems like this aren't surprising for any totally new product. Such are the perils for early adopters. :?
