An In-Depth Look Into The Ipod

Macnn.com has a an interesting couple of links that talk about the extremely successful iPod and it's design. They point out that Electronic Design Chain "published an in-depth look at the iPod and the companies with which Apple has partnered to design and manufacture the MP3 player, including Sony, Wolfson, Toshiba, Texas Instruments and Linear Technology".
I was a bit surprised to hear that a lot of the basic design of the iPod was done more so by outside companies than by Apple itself. Though, most of the direction was probably orchestrated by Apple since they believe so strongly in the importance of design and a smooth, very friendly user interface. Additionally, macnn.com also has a link to a BBC news article about PMPs, and especially the iPod, about the fact that they are "having a dramatic effect on the way people behave".
