"The leaked Mino camcorder from Flip is now official, and from the looks of it, it’s still got the stripped-down appeal of its sibling Video. New features on the Mino include touch sensitive buttons (as opposed to click) and an increased video bit rate of 4.0 Mbps (doubled from before), giving the user an hour of capture. What’s more, the built-in sharing function will now upload to MySpace, YouTube and AOL. Dimensions are a lithe 3.94″ x 1.97″ x 0.63″."

A few weeks ago when I was in Seattle for the Microsoft Mobius event, I made an impulsive purchase: I bought a Flip Ultra video recorder. I'd been pondering picking one up for a while, just something cheap and simple to use for recording short video clips, but never pulled the trigger - partially because I never saw them at retail in Canada. So when I was in Seattle I ordered one from Amazon and had it delivered to my hotel - and now, just a couple of weeks later, Flip releases a completely new, and much better version. That sucks!

The new Flip Mino is much thinner and smaller overall than the previous version, features a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery, touch-sensitive buttons, an omni-directional microphone, and a few other enhancements. Oh well, it's not like I paid $500 for the thing, and I haven't used it enough to warrant an immediate upgrade. If they get a version that does 720p video, I'll be all over it.
