Lightroom: Evolution from Shadowland

"The development of Adobe Lightroom, code named Shadowland, was not something Adobe started after Apple announced Aperture. The Shadowland project has been going on for years. How do I know that Adobe has been working on Shadowland for so long? Because that’s how long I’ve been working on it. Back in October of 2002 Mark Hamburg sent me a little developmental application he called PixelToy (breaking his own rule, there was an innercap) and jokingly refered to as “SchewePaint”."



An interesting article for anyone that's a Lightroom user - it shows the history and evolution of lightroom, from a widget-like piece of software (shown above) to the final product we have with Lightroom 1.0. It's a great read, seeing how complicated it can be for someone with a vision for a piece of software to see it come to fruition. Now if only Lightroom 1.0 didn't still feel a bit like a beta piece of software (especially on Vista)...
