"YouTube Inc. plans to offer more than 4,000 hours of classic television shows, including "I Spy," "Gumby" and other material from Digital Music Group Inc., an online distributor of independently owned music, TV and film catalogs, it was announced Monday. The deal is among the first giving users free access to full-length commercial television shows through YouTube, the companies said. TV companies such as CBS Corp. post video from shows on YouTube, but that is generally limited to short clips."

Since we got a Wii, we have been watching a lot of YouTube shorts on the big screen TV. This is especially fun at parties. But, if they are looking for users to sit down and watch full-length shows, they need to work on video quality. With high-def TV becoming more pervasive, it is really hard to expect people to take a step backwards to something worse than broadcast TV.
