"RoboImport downloads your digital images straight from a digital memory card or a digital camera, renames them, and automatically perform's a number of image editing operations during transferring to your PC. Just connect your camera to the PC and the following steps will be accomplished automatically after a single click: RoboImport fires up automatically; it creates one or more folders in the "c:\photographs" folder, naming those according to the date(s) the images on the CF were created and event names; transfers the images to these folders..."

RoboImport (previously known as CamReader) is a high-end picture importer and renamer targeted at professional users (or people like me that go to the beach and come back with 300+ pics). It helps keep control over the thousands of photos that professionals take and features a number of very useful controls, like automatic lossless image rotation and GPS tagging. It will also batch convert RAW files to Adobe's DNG format and supports direct reading for Canon cameras. If you take a lot of photos, this may be the missing link in your process. RoboImport sells for $39.95USD, but for a limited time, PicaJet is offering all DMT readers a 40% discount. There's also a 30-day trial available if you're not quite ready to take the plunge. Stay tuned, we'll be reviewing RoboImport in the next week or so.
