" The hard-drive maker will show off what it calls the market's smallest hard drive at the Consumer Electronics Show, the company said Monday. Upgrades to Cornice's Dragon series feature 8GB and 10GB of storage, up from 4GB and 6GB, and have slimmed down to the size of a book of matches, the company said."

This is getting pretty close to the size the most people would consider pocketable for day to day use. The thing I love about my thumb drive is that it fits nicely on my key chain and I don't even notice it when it is in my pocket. These HD units should have a cost/capacity advantage and if they can get them down to something the size of an auto remote and have good shock-proofing, they could probably compete with a thumb drive.
