Well folks, it looks like Apple has lost its fight with music giant EMI. According to Forbes, Apple and EMI have reached an agreement to end the flat fee pricing ($.99 per song) within the next 12 months. New releases will be priced higher than $.99, while older tracks will be priced below that price point. Note however it remains unknown exactly what the new price scale will be, but when you consider that EMI and other music companies have been griping that $.99 is too cheap, my gut tells me we can expect pricing on hot titles to DOUBLE, while back catalog tracks will probably fall only a few pennies. I don't know that for a fact, but I believe that is where the chips will fall.
