Analyst Says Media Center Extenders Slow to Catch On

"The market for media adapters -- "media center extenders," in Microsoft parlance -- currently remains limited to early adopters, according to In-Stat. In a report just out, the research firm projects a "best-case scenario" compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 76 percent between 2004 and 2009. "

The kicker is on the following line:
"In order to drive the market for Media Center Extenders, Media Center Edition 2005 (MCE) PC's need to become more available worldwide. The number of PC manufacturers offering MCE PCs is increasing rapidly."

In Europe, it seems that the only way to get a MCE PC is by building it oneself. So, as soon as Dell and other PC manufacturers start making those MCE PCs for the Old Continent, then we will likely see a larger demand for those media center extenders. And, not to forgetting that there is a lack of media center extenders in markets where the MCE PCs are already selling.
