FujiFilm "Face Search" Technology

"FujiFilm has a new technology for searching pictures, which is called "Face Search." It works just like it sounds. The basic process consists of highlighting a face in one picture, pressing "search," and the software will display other pictures that feature the same person. I'd like to see this in action myself before investing any money on a product because it features this technology. Scanning images for particular objects never has had great results, and reminds me too much of Blade Runner."
I think it would be awesome if this took off. I do think the problem, from a machine learning point of view, is incredibly hard and it would probably produce decent results for a front facial view (like I have seen working in a lot of Computer Vision based systems) but may not work very well of a face from an arbitrary angle and with arbitrary lighting. I am still rooting for the technology though, it would make cataloging images so much easier.
