SanDisk CF Card Takes A Licking And Keeps On Ticking

"SanDisk is definitely milking this one for all it’s worth: a newspaper photographer in Missouri accidentally positioned one of his digital camera a little too close in attempt to photograph a bridge that was being demolished. The explosion destroyed the camera, but his CompactFlash memory card (SanDisk brand, of course) managed to survive the blast with all of its photos completely intact, including the shot above, which was taken milliseconds before impact. Plus, make sure you click for some sweet action that a second camera managed to capture of the camera being blown up."

Perhaps SanDisk should change its product marketing to include a new slogan..."The Memory Card that won't die!" I'm going to buy 100,000 of these CF cards and cover my entire car with them.

On a serious note, this story...while comical...is being blown out of proportion (excuse the pun). It's no accident the CF card survived the blast, it's simply a matter of physics. The camera absorbed the blast which shielded the CF card for harm.
