HP Photosmart Mobile 1.3MP Camera

"Despite the claimed demise of the PDA, there's no denying that they remain the only truly pocketable way to manipulate data on the go. This is of course changing slowly with the latest generation of mobile phones now offering similar levels of personal information management ... Some of the costlier PDAs are now beginning to appear with integrated cameras, but very often the price premium is prohibitive. HP's answer is an SD slot based removable camera designed specifically for use with its popular iPAQ range of PocketPCs, and it's one of these I'll be looking at today."

The Photosmart Mobile Camera looks like a nifty little unit with an articulated lens able to swivel a touch over 180 degrees. The camera can be attached to your mobile devices via its attached SD interface. At a mere 50mm wide by 27mm high and 20mm deep, it is tiny, and weight in at just over 31.1g. If it were higher than the measly 1.3MP display, it might be worth it, but it is crippled with poor, featureless software and almost non-existent low-light capability. I don't get it, why are manufacturers/companies putting out devices like these. I don't see it selling at all because cellphone cameras appear to be doing a better job right now.
