"Panasonic announced on Friday that it plans to launch a 1GB Secure Digital card first in Japan in April, then worldwide in May. The electronics maker said at the CeBit trade show in Hannover, Germany, that the card will cost about $500."

As much as I love Panasonic, that $500 price tag is a bit much 8O. Sandisk announced their 1GB SD card a few months ago and it is already retailing for less than $350. I am surprised that Panasonic would sell it for this much. On a brighter side, Panasonic did say that it had plans to continue to boost the storage capacity and to increase the rate of writing data to the cards.
