Toshiba DVD Burners Coming Soon for Desktops and Laptops

"A couple of new dual-format DVD burners from Toshiba, the SD-R5272, which is an 8x speed drive for desktops; and the SD-R6372 (pictured at right), a slim 4x speed model which should start showing up in laptops soon."
Is it me, or does Toshiba seem several months behind the competition here by just announcing an 8x DVD burner for the desktop?
