"The new Satellite P25-S670 comes with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition operating system, and a 17-inch widescreen display. Toshiba America Information Systems, a division of Toshiba, expects consumers will watch movies and store their digital media on this notebook. The P25-S670 costs $2699 with a 3.2-GHz Pentium 4 processor, 512MB of DDR SDRAM, an 80GB hard drive, and a DVD-RAM/-RW/CD-RW multifunction optical drive. It also comes with a GeForce FX Go5700 graphics card from Nvidia with 128MB of video memory and an integrated 802.11a/802.11g wireless chip."

Mobile multimedia continues to be a fascination for me, so this announcement from Toshiba caught my interest. Although I have to admit, I'm not sure what's new about these models - I've been looking at an hp zd7000 and it seems to already everything that this new Toshiba offers. The official press release isn't much help either - is it the GeForceFX Go5700 rather than the 5600 that's the news here? The hp zd7000 has the 5600, but I'm not clear on the differences other than the number 100. ;-) The zd7000 has a model with the Extreme Edition CPU at 3.2 Ghz, but it's an amazing $650 USD more than the normal P4 3.2 Ghz! 8O That's a LOT of money for some extra cache. So about this Toshiba...looks good, but I prefer the design of the hp zd7000.
