Pinnacle Video Transfer

Posted by Chris Gohlke in "Digital Home Hardware & Accessories" @ 06:00 PM

http://www.trustedreviews.com/multi...deo-Transfer/p1

"In a similar vein, Pinnacle's new Video Transfer device is aimed at making life just as easy for users who need to capture and digitise video from an analogue source, and all without the use of a computer. Rather than spend time worrying about what software settings and bit-rates to use, with the Pinnacle Video Transfer (PVT) all you need is a FAT32 mobile storage device such as an external USB 2.0 hard disk or flash memory key and you can start recording pretty much straight away. The PVT will even record directly to a Sony PSP (running firmware version 2.81 or later) and most types of Apple iPod (firmware version 1.21 or later), but not the iPod Touch. In principal, the PVT will record video from any device that outputs a Composite or S-video signal, such as a VHS recorder, DVD player, set-top box or gaming console. But before we get onto recording, let's take a quick look at the device itself."

For the non-tech savvy, I guess this is a way to get video on to your mobile device. But for most users who really want to get video on these devices I'd think it would just be easier to rip your DVD's or get a TV tuner for your PC if it does not already have one.

Re-Launch Contest #4: Pinnacle Dazzle Video Creator Platinum

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Digital Home Events" @ 08:00 AM

Here's our fourth giveaway, courtesy of Pinnacle: one Dazzle Video Creator Platinum, valued at $89.99 USD. Here's a bit about the product:

"You can archive footage directly to DVD or produce movies using the simple, yet powerful editing tools. You can trim videos and add great-looking effects, transitions and background music. Movies can be burned to DVD or made ready for viewing on portable media players, such as the Apple iPod or Sony PSP. The device’s hardware encoding produces high quality results without tying up your precious system resources."

Here's how to enter: just post a message as a reply telling me what how you'd use this. What kind of old VHS footage to you have? Or would you capture video from another source? What's the best feature this product has? There's one post per person allowed, and three winners will be randomly chosen. The contest will stay open for entries until April 7th, 2008.
