Logitech Ships One Billion Mice

Posted by Chris Gohlke in "Digital Home Hardware & Accessories" @ 02:00 PM

"Logitech posted some interesting information about selling their one billionth mouse after being in the market for 20+ years. The first mouse from the Switzerland-based Logitech was the P4 (pictured above), which began mass production in 1985 at the company’s birthplace. Logitech reached the 100 millionth mouse mark in 1996, and subsequently, topped 500 millionth 7 years later. The company is now selling at a rate of 376,000 mice per day and 7.8 million every month."

Yes, that's billion with a B. Twenty plus years in the peripheral market is mighty impressive, especially with the likes of Microsoft competing with you. My personal favorite Logitech product is the Marble Mouse. How about you?

Logitech's diNovo Media Center Keyboard

Posted by Chris Gohlke in "Digital Home Hardware & Accessories" @ 03:00 PM

"In the end, our experience with the diNovo Mini has been excellent. It is everything that we wanted in a Media Center controller and it is the perfect blend between a remote, a keyboard and mouse, in a beautiful package that looks good on the coffee table. Of course, it has a few shortcomings, but there is nothing else like it on the market today."

A bit expensive in my opinion, but it does look to be an elegant solution for a wireless keyboard for the living room media center PC. Ubergizmo seemed quite happy with the performance of this keyboard, so if you think you might be interested, be sure to check out their full review.

Logitech Squeezebox Duet

Posted by Suhit Gupta in "Digital Home Articles & Resources" @ 10:00 AM

http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-med...7-32815168.html

"The good: Network digital audio system includes excellent wireless remote with color screen and scroll wheel control; supports Wi-Fi and Ethernet home networks; compatible with virtually all non-DRM audio file formats, provides access to PC-based music files (on Windows, Mac, and Linux machines) as well as PC-free Internet radio, podcasts, and premium online music services including Rhapsody, Slacker, and Pandora; excellent online account integration; expandable to multiple rooms. The bad: Minor improvements could make the already good interface even better; scroll wheel isn't quite as responsive as the iPod's; no compatibility with DRM music files such as those purchased from iTunes or Zune online stores; setup process could frustrate those who aren't tech-savvy."

Cute setup and will give the guys at Sonos a run for their money, in fact given it costs under $400, it is significantly cheaper than the Sonos. The iPod-like remote gives you access to the music on your computer and also plugs in to Rhapsody (among other music services). The base station plugs into the music system and the rest is all easy. Very cool system.
