Dell Mini 5 Has a Plethora of Color Options

Posted by Chris Gohlke in "Digital Home Hardware & Accessories" @ 03:00 AM

"At long last, it seems as if the suits in Round Rock are finally getting around to crafting the first advertisements for the upcoming slate, and while we knew about the 5-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, capacitive touch front buttons, front-facing VGA camera (for video chatting) and the 30-pin docking connector, we weren't aware of Dell's plans to reveal a slew of vivacious color options."

Some interesting color options. Other detail suggest that there will be a content deal with Amazon, which I hope means we will be seeing a Kindle app for all Android devices in the near future. Of course, the one piece of information we all want to know, price and availability, is still an unknown.

Engadget Plays With A Prototype Dell Mini 5

Posted by Andy Dixon in "Digital Home Hardware & Accessories" @ 02:00 PM

"Dell's puzzled the world for quite some time with its outlandish Mini 5 -- at first glance it's just another Android-based MID, but a quick fiddle with it reveals the full-fledged 3G phone inside. So will it fit in a pocket? Can we carry it around like a normal phone? Is this the future form factor that will bring the ultimate balance between portability and practicality?"

Engadget have managed to spend some time with a Dell Mini 5 prototype and have published their initial thoughts about the device. They stress that this is a prototype and some things may not be in the final released product, and others may be, so keep this in mind when you read the review. All in all, I think this has the potential to be a rather nice device. I look forward to seeing more details and reviews over the coming months.

Hands on with the Dell Mini 5

Posted by Chris Gohlke in "Digital Home Hardware & Accessories" @ 05:00 AM

Engadget has gotten their hands on the Dell Mini 5 and has a bunch of pictures and video posted. They should have a bunch of impression posts coming along as they play with it. This size category is an interesting choice. I think a lot of people might find it a bit large to be pocketable, but might be ready to make the sacrifice for all the extra screen real estate. On the other end, some might find it too small versus the iPad for the tablet experience. Too big, too small, just right, what do you think?

Say Hello to Dell's Little Friend: The Mini 5

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Digital Home Hardware & Accessories" @ 04:00 AM

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/307..._medium=twitter

"Dell's 5-inch Internet tablet is to be called the Dell Mini 5 according to the company, suggesting that it will fit in its portable products range as the second handset to follow the Dell Mini 3 and slot in under the "Mini" range of netbooks. Dell told Pocket-lint the news at an exclusive round table event with a handful of journalists at its suite in the Palm's hotel in Las Vegas."

Pocket-lint has a bunch more photos of the forthcoming Dell Mini 5, and some further details such as the fact that it will come with both a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a front-facing one of unknown resolution. Exactly what you'd need for video conferencing. This could be a really interesting device depending on the price point. Has it captured your imagination?
